Young People and Alcohol - Training the Trainer
This is a three day Training the Trainer course, it is accredited by Agored Cymru at Level Three with 3 Credits. The course includes:
Understanding the physical, mental and social effects of alchohol for young drinkers.
Understanding drinking trends: latest research, teenage alcoholism, binge drinking, international comparisons.
Key scientific research related to the alcohol and the adolescent brain.
Motivation to drink by key age group and, key influences on drinking decisions.
Effects of mixing drink with other drugs: cocaine, cannabis, GHB.
Harm reduction tips for young alcohol users: safety, sexual health, helping friends in trouble.
Tackling the 'binge drinking' culture; government action.
Educating young people about alcohol: what works?
Developing, delivering and training on alcholol and young people.

Delivering Substance Misuse Work in Youth Settings
This new training course is designed to provide youth work professionals with an opportunity to develop their skills with up to date knowledge, which will enhance their ability to undertake planned and structured substance misuse work with both individuals and groups of young people.

The course aims to develop participant’s understanding of how to educate young people about substance use and its effects and impacts whilst providing practitioners with an opportunity to develop, plan, deliver and review learning sessions during the training with a view to developing and enhancing their future practice. The course is tutored by a specialist tutor with over 20 years experience working in various setting within the substance misuse service.

This is accredited with a Level Three with 3 Credits Unit - Educating Others about Substances and their Effects.

Alternatively, in-house or on-site training for staff groups of up to 15 people can be arranged at a cost of £2000. If possible Youth Cymru can also assist with linking up organisations who can share the costs of in-house training.
